Our next meeting is on Friday 13th April, when Colin Stone will present a selection of archive films from his personal collection. The films were "shot" by Colin between the years 1977 to 1985. The four films to be shown are:
"UK Preserved Steam”. Scenes at various UK heritage railways during this period.
“Railway Scenes at Poole in the 1970's and 1980's”. Scenes in the diesel era within Poole Borough.
"South African Steam". Mostly British built steam locomotives working hard in day to day revenue earning service - long after such familiar scenes had ceased in the UK.
“Trains around the UK”. Mainline and Heritage Line trains, both steam and diesel with "bonus footage
All the films were recently transferred from the original Super 8 sound cine film to DVD format. As well as providing an evening’s entertainment, the content will, hopefully, help to emphasise the need to have cine film images preserved. Taken in an age prior to "instant result" video cameras, some of the original celluloid films are now over 40 years old and are prone to deterioration. In some cases, the transfer to DVD was undertaken "just in time".
A small display of the "paraphernalia" needed to film, edit and eventually show the film in original form will be on show.
The Circle meets in Harmans Cross Village Hall, Haycrafts Lane, Harmans Cross at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME.
